Myrtle Lee "Mert" Rushing, 85, of Urbana passed away at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 22 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana with Pastor Tim Barber officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial will be at Nokomis Cemetery, Nokomis at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, Pastor Ryan Follis officiating.

Mrs. Rushing was born April 22, 1924 in Louisville, KY as Myrtle Lee Logsdon, daughter of Josh T. and Lucy Myrtle Logsdon. Her family moved from Kentucky to Illinois, where later, in Champaign, Myrtle met William E. Rushing. They were married in Nokomis on December 24, 1948. He survives and will miss her dearly. Other survivors include three sisters, Alta Ruth Sanders of Nokomis, Mary Jean Giles of Ashland, TN and Betty J. Slagell of Manchester, IA. Also surviving is a sister-in-law Phyllis Logsdon of California as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Rushing retired after 30 years from Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul. She participated as a Volunteer at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. She and her husband had enjoyed traveling as snowbirds to Florida where they participated in many activities with their community of friends there. She was a member of First Christian Church, Champaign.
