Obituary

Myron H. Feitshans, 102, of Urbana passed away on December 16, 2016 at his home.

Myron was born on September 1, 1914 in Laura, Ohio. He was the son of Maude and Walter Feitshans, one of eight children. On August 31, 1946 he married Marjorie Seidel in Rankin, IL, she survives.

Also surviving are three children; Susan (David) Sederholm of Highbridge, WI, Walter (Lynn) Feitshans of Titusville FL and Sandy (Ichiro) Matsuda of Columbia, MO. Eight grandchildren; Sierra Feitshans, Seija Anderson, Todd Sederholm, Fred Sederholm, Mathew Boekhout, Mark Boekhout, Holly Mendenhall, Jaclyn Boekhout and twelve great grandchildren also survive him. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Alice Boekhout (Scott).

Myron served in the Army from 1935-1938 as a weather observer. From 1944 to 1946 he was recalled to active duty to serve as a weather forecaster. His final duty station was Tokyo, Japan. After discharge, Myron returned to his former work as a civilian weather forecasting instructor at the U.S. Air Force Weather School at Chanute A.F. Base, retiring in 1972. He served in the U.S. Air Force Reserves for twenty-four years, retiring as a Lt. Colonel.

He participated in several professional and community service organizations, including 44 years in the Urbana Exchange Club. In the 1950's he wrote a weekly column called "Around Our Community" for the Rankin paper for many years. He served on the school board, the Community Council and in Grace Lutheran Church as Sunday School Superintendent. He loved reading and worked to start a community public library. Other interests included politics, gardening, travel, golf, bridge, and great conversations. He especially enjoyed time with his family.

The family wishes to thank his devoted caregivers as well as friends and staff of Clark-Lindsey and First Presbyterian for their love and support.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
