URBANA, IL- Muriel L. Withers, 87, of Urbana, passed away at 8:40 A.M., Friday, May 8, 2009 at her residence.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, May 18, 2009 at St. Patricks Catholic Church, 708 W. Main St., Urbana, IL. The Rev. Father Joseph Hogan will officiate. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M to 10:30 A.M., Monday at the church.

Mrs. Withers was born April 24, 1922 at Manitowoc, Wisconsin, a daughter of Charles and Jessie Cox. She married James W. Withers, Sr. on August 16, 1942 at Urbana. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1998. Survivors include two sons, James (Sandra) Withers of Montgomery, Michigan, Robert (Becky) Withers of Urbana and a daughter, Sandra (John) Dye of Mattoon, IL. Six grandchildren: Cathie Durkin, Christine Withers, Whitney Myers, Amanda Withers, Catherine Dye and Blake Withers; Five great-grandchildren: Ellie Durkin, John Durkin, Frank Durkin, Charlie Durkin and Quinn Myers.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James.

Mrs. Withers retired from Champaign County Bank and Trust and Busey Bank. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church and was a volunteer for the Carle Hospital Auxiliary and the Provena Covenant Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Philanthropic Education Organization and the Ambassador's Club.
