Mildred J. Grindley, 82, of Champaign passed away at 10:45 p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Heartland Health Care Center, Champaign. Visitation will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. A funeral service will be held Monday, May 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 604 Windsor Rd., Champaign; with Bishop Kevin Johnson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Mayview.
Ms. Grindley was born August 22, 1930 to parents Mary Marie (Brittenham) and Leonard Marian Huss in Armstrong, Illinois. She was a baker for many years at Eisner's Bakery in Champaign. Millie especially enjoyed working on crossword puzzles.
Survivors include sons; Donald Grindley (Mary Lynn), of Rantoul, James Grindley (Shari), of Thomasboro, brother; Lawrence Huss, of Decatur, sisters; Betty Reed, of Mt. Zion, Phyllis Friend, of Mt. Zion, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael Grindley, one brother, Paul Huss, and one granddaughter, Kendra Sherman.
Millie was a loving mother and grandmother, and was a friend to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Champaign.
