Michael David Swiger, 73, of Urbana, IL, passed away on Wednesday (August 15, 2018) at Champaign County Nursing Home in Urbana, IL.

Mike was born December 7, 1944, in Geneseo, IL to parents Howard and June (Oltman) Swiger.  They preceded him in death.  Also, preceding him in death was a great nephew Dalton James Bruning.

He is survived by his son Matthew Swiger (Kendra) and step-grandchildren Kyla and Kiersten Reasor of Tolono, IL, his ex-wife Judy Swiger of Mahomet, IL, his sister Jan Bruning of Urbana, IL, nephew Jamie (Caitie) Bruning, great niece Hadley Bruning of Mansfield, IL, niece Jenny (Eddie) Fox and great niece Jessica and great nephew Joshua of Red Bank, SC, and cousins Jim Frels and Julie Frels.

Mike received a Bachelor's degree in History from Washburn University in Topeka, KS.  Mike was a retired salesman of Goodwill Publishers. Mike loved watching Fighting Illini football and basketball, as well as major league baseball with his son Matt and granddog Zoe.

There will be no formal funeral arrangements.  The family will hold a private memorial in remembrance of Mike at a later date.
