Michael David Scott, 54 of Urbana, died 1:33 a.m. Friday, April 24 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. The memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday April 29 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Rev. Mike Picklesimer will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Military rites will accorded by the Champaign VFW Post 5520. The family will begin receiving friends at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home on the day of the memorial service.

Mr. Scott was born November 18, 1954 in Champaign, the son of Paul Milton and Wanda Kathleen Thomas Scott. He married Sara Beth Short February 16, 2007 in Urbana. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Jon Scott (Casey) of Amarillo, Texas; step-daughter, Hannah Elaine Short of Urbana; grandsons, Trevor and Jake Scott; brother, Jeff Scott (Becky) of Urbana; mother Wanda Kathleen Scott (Bill McNeal) of Urbana; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Butts (Dustin) and Jason and Nellie Scott; two great nephews, four brother-in-laws, five sister-in-laws and their spouses.

Mr. Scott is a 1972 graduate of Urbana High School. He entered the US Air Force shortly after high school and served for16 years, stationed in Turkey and Japan. He achieved the rank of sergeant before his discharge. He later worked in security at the University of Illinois undergraduate library. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #2497 where he was the secretary of the lodge's bowling league. He enjoyed bowling, and once bowled a 300 game. His interests also included fishing and reading. He loved being outside because he loved nature and all the earth around him.
