Michael (Mike) Miskimins, 59, died Saturday, December 24, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana surrounded by his family. He was born February 11, 1963 in Des Moines, Iowa the son of Wendell and Esther Miskimins. He graduated from Southeast Polk High School in 1981 and Grandview University in 1985. He married Deedra Brooks in Des Moines on November 16, 1985. Mike is survived by his wife Deedra of 37 years, daughters Ashley (Kyle) Moe and Andrea (John) Woodford and grandchildren Jack and Lillian Woodford. He is also survived by his sister Mary (Steve) Peterson of Ankeny, Iowa; sister-in-law Tammy (Bryan) Riley and Joni Miskimins and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Frank Miskimins and nephew Kole Heuermann. Mike worked in the grocery store business for over 40 years. Most recently managing County Market grocery stores for Niemann Foods in Champaign. Prior to moving to Champaign he worked at several Hy-Vee grocery stores in Nebraska and Iowa. Mike enjoyed traveling with Deedra and his family and friends. He loved to root on his favorite sports teams – Packers, Cubs and Illini. He loved a competitive golf game and riding his Harley motorcycle. Mike was a collector of many things, some valuable, some not! He had a way of making connections with people and had many friends. He will also be missed by his beloved dogs Marco and Annabelle. A celebration of life will be held from 2-4:00 p.m.on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at The Esquire, 106 N Walnut Street, Champaign, Illinois.
