Michael "Mike" W. Kutzko, 86, of Urbana passed away on November 29, 2023 at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana, IL. Mike was born on September 7, 1937 in Ambridge, PA, the son of Michael & Elizabeth (Krein) Kutzko. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During his service he was a fuel boom operator on KC-135 tankers, flying re-fueling missions. Following an honorable discharge, he became a traveling salesman for Lehn & Fink, a manufacturer of industrial cleaning products. During his time there, the company held a national company-wide sales competition, where those with the overall highest sales ratings at the end of the year won an all-expense paid trip to the Superbowl. Mike won it three years in a row for 1972, 1973, and 1974.In 1983, he changed industries but took everything he learned at Lehn & Fink to Bush Brothers, a distributor of industrial paper products, where he was a leading product management representative until his retirement in 2012.In his spare time, Mike enjoyed dancing, ice skating, and building and flying RC model airplanes. He also had a keen interest in restoring, collecting, and discussing vintage cars. He was a former board member for the Illini Figure Skating Club. He was a long-standing, active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Urbana.Mike is survived by his sons: Mitch Kutzko of Richland, WA and Sean Kutzko of Champaign, IL; his sister Carol Matisko of Cleveland, OH and by long-time friend and companion Edie Keppy of Rantoul, IL. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at St Patrick's Catholic Church, 708 West Main Street, Urbana, IL 61801. Father Anthony Co will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rantoul, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences may be made at www.renner-wikoffchapel.com
