Michael Robert Barger, 52, of Champaign, died 4:55 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.

Friends and family are welcome to celebrate the life of Michael Barger at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 at the Urbana VFW Post #630 located at 1303 E. Main St., Urbana. Food will be provided. Arrangements are being handled by Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd, Urbana. Mr. Barger was born March 16, 1957 at Effingham, the son of Leon and Patsy (Lane) Barger. He married Nan Lourim and she survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Gwen Barger of Mahomet, son, Tyler Barger of Champaign, father Leon of Urbana, sister, Christi Mayer of Clifton and brother, David Barger of Urbana. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patsy and an uncle, Joe Lane.

Mr. Barger is a graduate of Urbana High School and was a loyal brother to the IBEW for over 30 years as an electrician. He did electrical work at the U of I Memorial Stadium during the recent renovation project. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
