Meredith Jo Fay, 70, died Monday (March 6, 2017) at the Champaign County Nursing Home. A visitation will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1203 W. Green St., Urbana, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2017. Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at the church, with Rev. Dan King Crede officiating. A coffee social at the church will follow the funeral service, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangement and will handle the cremation of Ms. Fay.
Ms. Fay was born June 14, 1946 in Yakima Washington, the daughter of Joseph and Marian (Caine) Jackobs. She married James Fay on March 25, 1972 in Urbana. He survives.
Other survivors include her son Aaron, of Vernon Hills IL, and his sons, Ethan and Logan, as well as her daughter, Samantha, of Neosho MO, and her son Andrew. Meredith was preceded in death by a brother, James Jackobs, and sister, Carol Ransom.
Ms. Fay was a psychiatric nurse and later, a clinical quality control auditor. Physicians asked her to audit them. She received Bachelor and Masters degrees at the University of Illinois.
She was active in the Wesley Foundation and a variety of social and environmental services. She took her Therapy Dog Chip to the Pavilion twice a week and Crisis Nursery once a week.
