RANTOUL, IL- Melvin Dwight Slade, 53, of Rantoul, passed away on November 23, 2009 at his residence in Rantoul.

Funeral Services will be held 12:00 Noon, November 27, 2009 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL. Rev. Charles Harmon will officiate. Burial will be held at Eastlawn Cemetery, Urbana. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the funeral home.

Melvin Slade was born January 26, 1956 in Urbana, a son of William and Janet Lou Collins Slade. He is survived by three sisters, Marshia Grimes of Rantoul, Judy Slade of Urbana, and Annie Staley of Urbana; and a brother, Billy Slade of Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and step father.

Mr. Slade was a member of the Rantoul Sons of the American Legion 287, enjoyed bingo, playing with kids, dancing, and being around family.
