Maude Ellen Stewart, age 96, of Urbana, Ill., died noon Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at home. Arrangements are being handled by Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 South Philo Road, Urbana, Ill., where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, October 19, 2006. Private graveside services will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Interment will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign, Ill.

Mrs. Stewart was born January 9, 1910 at West Salem, the daughter of Arley W. and May Bensyl Schonert. She married Robert S. Murdock in 1930 in Danville and he preceded her in death. She married James F. Stewart in 1953 in Urbana and he preceded her in death.

She is survived by:

One Daughter, Betty J. Schmall of Urbana, Ill.

One Son, Robert C. Murdock of Champaign, Ill.

Five grandchildren, Six great-grandchildren and Three great-great grandchildren

She is preceded in death by; a brother, a sister and a grandchild. Mrs. Stewart graduated from West Salem Schools and the Barry Castle Business School. She was a secretary in the Forestry Dept. at the U of I and also at the U of I Medical Center, Chicago. She was later a food service supervisor at the U of I for 14 years. She is a member of the United Methodist Church. Her special interests were genealogy, cooking, sewing, gardening and her family. Condolences may be offered at www.renner-wikoffchapel.com.
