Obituary

Marylin Smith 80 of Urbana died at 12:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, 2011 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church, Urbana; the Rev. Katherine Kussmaul officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana.

Mrs. Smith was born on December 4, 1930 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Theo and Georgia Goslee Kelly, she married Robert Leon Smith on June 26, 1949 in Shelbyville, he died on October 10, 2005.

Survivors include two sons; Joe (Linda) Smith of Urbana, Richard (Pat) Smith of Seminole, Florida, one daughter Patty (David) Oliphant of Jacksonville, Florida, three sisters; Phyllis Godwin of Urbana, Linda Hall and Laura Morgan both of Charleston, two brothers; Gary Kelly of Atlanta, Georgia, Wayne Kelly of Brazil, Indiana and four grandchildren; Kyle and Patrick Smith and Lindsey and Nathan Oliphant.

She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

A talented lifelong homemaker, Mrs. Smith was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Urbana where she served as a Deacon and was a member of the quilting and sewing club. She was a member of the Exchange Club, an avid golfer having played in many golf leagues. She was a dedicated volunteer through her church and other organizations. She also traveled extensively with her husband, enjoyed gardening and loved caring for the birds that visited her yard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, Alzheimer's Association or First Presbyterian Church.
