Mary A. Snook, 70, of Urbana passed away at 5:40 p.m., Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory will handle cremation.

Mrs. Snook was born April 17, 1944 in Champaign, Illinois to parents Kenneth and Dorothy (Denman) Mays. They preceded her in death. Mary married Jerry Snook December 22, 1963, in Champaign, Illinois; he survives. She is also survived by one son, John Snook (Marjorie), of Decatur, Georgia, two grandchildren, Beatrice and Caliopy, brother, Jim Mays, of Urbana, niece, Lisa Harker, of Urbana, and great nephews, Andrew Bready, of Urbana, and Adam and Aaron Bready, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. One brother, Rex Mays, preceded her in death.

After graduating from Urbana High School, Mary worked as a supervisor at Champaign County Nursing Home. She then worked for A.C.H. Humco for 27 years.

Mary loved animals, especially her cats, or "babies," as she called them. She enjoyed observing the hummingbirds at her bird feeder and watching the wildlife that frequented the pond near her home. Her favorite movie genre was horror. Most of all, Mary loved her family. She was a thoughtful and giving woman who especially valued truthfulness.
