- Mary "Lorene" (Eubanks) Riddell, 91, of Champaign, died at 2:00 A.M., Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Heartland Healthcare Center in Champaign. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, November 11, 2017 at East Lawn Cemetery, Urbana. There will be no visitation. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, is assisting the family.
Mary "Lorene" was born August 9, 1926 in Urbana, IL, a daughter of Enoch Wesley and Bessie (Rusk) Eubanks. She married Chester Lee Riddell in June 2, 1946. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1970. Survivors include 3 daughters, Mary Louise Standford (Robert) of Sackets Harbor, NY, Ruth "Ann" Delporte of Champaign, and Heidi Angela Rosario (Robert) of Champaign; 2 Sons, Daniel Lee Riddell of Manteno, IL, and Mark David Riddell (Wendy) of Vancouver, WA. Also, 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren survive.
Mary "Lorene" was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three siblings and a child, Debbie Jean.
Mary "Lorene" graduated from Urbana High School, became adopted parents with her husband and later after her husband's death became a foster parent for many children of all ages. Mary "Lorene" worked at Department of Children and Family Services with families and with the University of Illinois sorority system for 25 years. She also started and ran her own business, Lorelle, sharing her other passion of recipes and cooking. She had a natural talent not only of hospitality and cooking but also of drawing and writing poetry which she shared with her family.
Mary "Lorene" had a very special relationship with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and they always looked forward to spending time with her. Mary "Lorene" had a strong Christian faith and was a faithful member of Twin City Bible Church and then later the Champaign Alliance Church.
Memorials may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association (www.apdaparkinson.org) on behalf of her daughter and sister affected by this disease. Condolences may be offered at www.renner-wikoffchapel.com.
