Obituary

Mary J. Fryer, 89 of Urbana died at 8:45 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2014 at the First Christian Church, Champaign, Tim Barber will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana.

Mrs. Fryer was born on February 27, 1925 in Urbana, the daughter of Loren and Thelma Spradding McHenry, she married Robert "Bob" Fryer on August 16, 1941 in Springfield, and he died on October 11, 2000.

Survivors include one son; Robert W. Fryer Jr. of Crescent City, Florida, one brother; Harold "Bud" McHenry of Philo, four sisters; Margaret "Dot" Eveland of Oakwood, Jean Little of LeRoy, Jeannette Gilley of Old Hickory, Tennessee and Louise "Boots" Sapp of Savoy, eleven grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two sons; Paul Thomas Fryer and Stephen R. Fryer, one daughter; Mary Louise Stewart, one brother; Loren McHenry Jr. and one sister; Lorene Pyles.

Mrs. Fryer was a teacher's Aide for many years.

She was a member of First Christian Church, Champaign, and a Sunday school teacher for many years at Webber Street Christian Church, Urbana.

Mrs. Fryer loved her family, quilting, gardening and church activities.
