Mary A. Copas, age 78, of Urbana, formerly of Moline died 11:45 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2008, at Heartland Healthcare Center in Champaign. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 21 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Rev. Henry Ramey will officiate. Private burial will be at the Danville National Cemetery, Danville.

Mrs. Copas was born March 21, 1930 in Sidney, Montana. She was the daughter of James and Roberta (French) Coon. She married James L. Copas in Sidney, Montana on May 18, 1950 and he survives. She is also survived by daughters Cheryl Copas of Snellville, Georgia, Tonya Boggs of Marietta, Georgia, a sister, Bonnie Kappel of Sidney, Montana and five grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Coon.

Mrs. Copas received a masters degree from the University of Illinois and was a public school teacher for 30 years in Montana and Moline, Illinois. She enjoyed stamp collecting.
