Mary Jane Carter 83 of Urbana died at 9:44 a.m. Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at home.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Carter was born on December 5, 1929, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Kollar Douchey. She married Gerald F. Carter on July 29, 1950 in Omaha, Nebraska; he died on December 4, 1979.

Survivors include her children; Lynn Marie (David) McCoy of Homer, Gerald Francis (Diana) Carter of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, Steven Michael (Judy) Carter of Crofton, Maryland, Robert Anthony (Alejandra) Birmingham, Alabama, James Edward (Pollyanna) Carter of Kingsport, Tennessee, Kevin Mark Carter, Talbot, Tennessee, Patricia Jean (Lyle) Cronan , Atlanta, Georgia, Kathleen Mary (Joe) Wang , Jefferson City, Missouri, Richard Daniel (Shannon) Carter, Orland Park, three sisters; Theresa (Tom) Giesemann , Escondido, California, Irene Larkin, Scottsdale, Arizona, Dorothy Slimp, Albuquerque, New Mexico, twenty four grandchildren and thirty four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter; Deborah and four brothers; John Douchey, George Douchey, Robert Douchey and Sam Douchey.

Mrs. Carter was a secretary for three years with the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha.

She was Roman Catholic.

Mrs. Carter was a Presence Covenant Auxiliary member since 1980 with over 20 years of active volunteer service.
