Mary Ruth Butler, 73, of Mahomet peacefully went to rest in the arms of our Lord at 7:10 P.M. Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Presence Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 13, 2014 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory, Urbana; Pastor Dave Garber of Muncie Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Stearns Cemetery, Fithian. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Butler was born on April 8, 1941 in Danville, the daughter of Jack and Fae Johnson Stringfield. She married Jim Butler on September 15, 1961 in Muncie, who survives.

Also surviving is one son, Mark Alan Butler (Kristin and Cuervo Wiedemann) of Pontiac, one daughter, Jeannine (Lawrence) Scelfo of Vancouver, Washington, two sisters, Florence Kirwan of Champaign, Diane Farelas of Riverside, California and two grandchildren, Caylee Hunt and Nicholas Hunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Barbara Sempsrott and two brothers, Billy Stringfield and Raymond Stringfield.

Mrs. Butler was a legal secretary for twenty years and retired as the manager for the Federal Bankruptcy Court in Danville after 20 years of service. She was a member of the euchre club, bunco club, an avid card player, sports fan, and loved to play the slots.

Mary Ruth was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and especially wife and mother. She will be missed and cherished by all who knew and loved her.
