Mary Maxine Allen, 87 of Urbana, died at 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at Heartland Health Care Center of Champaign. Private graveside services will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign and Renner-Wikoff Chapel, Urbana is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Allen was born February 4, 1923 in Foosland, the daughter of Homer E. and Eva Shreves. She married Loren J. Allen on March 7, 1942 in Paxton and he preceded her in death on July 12, 1991. She is survived by a son, Rick L. Allen (Garnet) of Bloomington, a daughter Sharon L. Nair of Bloomington, granddaughters, Natasha Nair and Melanie Curtis (Jesse) and two great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters. She is preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Allen graduated from Paxton High School and was a sales clerk at Fannie Mae Candies. She worked in social services for many years, including superintendant at Huling Home, Rantoul from 1959-1966, Covenant Children's Home, Princeton from 1966-1972 and Steer Place in Urbana. She was a member of Pennsylvania Ave. Baptist Church, Urbana. Mrs. Allen had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was influential in her children and others coming to know the Lord. We take comfort in knowing that she is reunited with her husband Loren and at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Association.
