Obituary

Martin Mark Perdue 86 of Champaign died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at the First Baptist Church at Savoy; Rev. Dr. Randy Gauger officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana is in charge of arrangements.

He was born in Twining, Michigan on June 19, 1927, a son of Charles Edgar and Pearl May Hopkins. The family moved to Louisiana in 1934.

He married Melba Louise Robinson and had two sons and one daughter; Glen, James and Beverly Joan.

He then married Shirley Hope Swann and had three sons and four daughters; Gene, Sherry, Linda, Mark, Michelle, Nick and Nan. He had one adopted son; Sam Youngblood.

He then married Lolita Rine in 1978, she survives. He is also survived by his step-children; John Rine and Chris McConkey. Also surviving is a brother; William Perdue. He leaves several "girlfriends" at the Hays Sr. Center.

Martin had 34 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters and two grandchildren; Michelle, Nan, Michael and Emily, four brothers and two sisters; Lawrence, Charles, James, Robert Perdue, Esther Perdue and Dorothy Chan.

Martin was drafted into the Army at the end of WWII. He owned his own mechanic shop in Ruston, LA. He retired from Meadow Gold Milk Company, Champaign in 1984.

Martin loved his family, family reunions in Louisiana, listening to the Lawrence Welk show, musical theater, dancing, gardening, the country, his pets and sipping Louisiana Community Dark Roast Coffee. He had a strong Christian faith which carried him through many losses in his life.

He was a member of First Baptist Church at Savoy and the University club.
