Mark Alan Retzolk, 45, of Philo died at 10:55 a.m. on Saturday, May 23 in Coles County. A memorial service will be held in Urbana at the Renner-Wikoff Funeral Home located at 1900 South Philo Road on Saturday, June 6, 2009 from 1:00-3:00 p.m.
Mark was born November 26, 1963 in Urbana, Il, the son of Richard M. and Dorothy (Albert) Retzolk. He married Victoria E. Sandberg, May 18, 1996 in Urbana.
Survivors include his wife, a son, Dylan Trey Retzolk of Philo, stepsons, Tony and Christopher Miller of Champaign, a sister, Ellen (Robert Dehne) of Maumee, OH, and his mother and stepfather Dorothy (Hallie Strole) of Greenup, Il. He was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents, W. A. and Pearl (Rose) Retzolk of Urbana, maternal grandparents, Charles R. and Inez (Hunsaker) Albert of Hidalgo.
Mark was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Urbana. He graduated from Urbana High School in 1981 and has been employed by the University of Illinois Printing Services Division for the past 23 years. Mark was a loving father to his son Dylan and a dedicated husband. He was a true "outdoorsman" and enjoyed camping, deer hunting, mushroom hunting and fishing in addition to his great love of music. He was looking forward to sharing these joys with his son.
Mark's extended family includes a large circle of friends whom he met in school, at work and through involvement in extra-curricular activities for his son. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
