Obituary

Mark Alan Butler, 52, of Pontiac went to be with our Lord and his mother at 4:59 pm on Thursday, May 26, 2016 in his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory in Urbana. Pastor Phillip McGarvey will officiate. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 1:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded.

Mark was born in Danville, IL on March 21, 1964 to parents Jim and Mary Ruth (Stringfield) Butler. Mary Ruth preceded him in death. His father Jim survives. Also surviving is a sister Jeannine (Lawrence) Scelfo of Riverside, CA, a niece Caylee Hunt of Oakwood, a nephew Nicholas Hunt of Muncie, his girlfriend Kristin Wiedemann of Pontiac and their dog Cuervo.

He was a graduate of Oakwood High School and had recently been baptized by Pastor Dave Garver of the Muncie Baptist Church. He was very proud of that. Mark worked as a welder and fabricator for thirty years.

Mark enjoyed motorcycle riding and was an avid collector. He loved his niece and nephew greatly. He spent a lot of time working on and rebuilding cars with his dad. He was a diehard Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Cubs fan. He was also an organ donor. Mark was greatly loved as a son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend. He will be missed by all that knew him.
