Obituary

Marjorie "Ruth" McIntosh, 83, of Savoy passed away at 9:15 a.m. Saturday (May 24, 2008). She was born March 11, 1925 in Villa Grove, the daughter of Ralph and Elizabeth (Burrows) Waldrop.

She married Verlin F. Weber in 1943. They were married 33 years, raised seven children together, and later divorced. In 1976 she married Howard A. McIntosh. They were married for 29 years, and he preceded her in death in 2005.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Barbara (Richard) Grimm of Champaign, Carol (William) Walker of Waukegan, and Sharon (James) Athanas of Waukegan; 4 sons, James (Lesa) Weber of Tuscola, Robert (Kathy) Weber of Urbana, David (Sunny) Weber of Thailand, and John (Cindy) Weber of Urbana; 3 step-children, Marleen (Bill) Cafarelli of Connecticut, Susan (Eric) Schwartz of Sidney, and Howard (Jill) McIntosh of Sullivan. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and another great-grandson on the way, and 2 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Virgil) Martin of Ogden, 2 brothers, John (Shirley) Waldrop and Joseph (Fran) Waldrop, both of Tuscola, and 1 sister-in-law, Edna Waldrop of Villa Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Gene (Edna) Waldrop, and 1 grandson, Cory Weber.

Ruth was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Urbana. She enjoyed reading, traveling, cooking and baking, and was an avid card and dominoes player. She also loved music and playing the piano and organ.

In addition to being a devoted mother and homemaker, Ruth worked at the University of Illinois as a secretary for more than ten years before retiring to Leesburg, Florida. Ruth spent several years writing a book she titled "Seven Siblings" about her memories of raising her seven children, and of her own childhood which, though unpublished, was bound and given to her family for Christmas.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at Grace United Methodist Church, 2004 Philo Road, Urbana. Rev. Michael Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana.

Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Renner-Wikoff Funeral Home, Urbana, is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church of Urbana or Provena Hospice of Urbana.
