Marie Spangler, 92, of Urbana passed away at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2012. A visitation will be held Friday, December 14, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. J. Michael Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mayview.

Mrs. Spangler was born June 12, 1920 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky to parents Charles and Verdie (Proffitt) England. She married Emmet Spangler November 10, 1946 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1976.

Survivors include son; David Spangler (Rebecca), of Tolono, daughters; Linda Ainslie, of Morganfield, Kentucky, Norma Spangler, of Champaign, sisters; Pauline Eaton, of Bruce, Lucille McKenzie (Paul), of Sullivan, Wilma Wiley, of Sullivan, Marilyn England, of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, grandsons; Michael David Spangler (Rhonda), of Lafayette, Indiana, Jason Ainslie (Deena) of Morganfield, Kentucky, two grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and three sisters.

Mrs. Spangler attended First Baptist Church of Urbana. She worked at Collegiate Cap and Gown in Champaign as a gown checker for many years before retiring. Marie enjoyed cooking and gardening.
