Obituary

CHAMPAIGN, IL - Marguerite (Marge) Perry, 91, of Champaign, IL, passed away at 4:28 P.M., Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at her residence.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 20, 2012, at McKinley Presbyterian Church, 809 S. Fifth Street, Champaign, IL. Interment will be private. Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd, Urbana, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marge was born on August 27, 1921 in Groveland, IL, a daughter of Frederick and Mary (Hatfield) Fechter and grew up in East Peoria, IL. She married Morris Edison Perry on September 5, 1944. He preceded her in death in February 1995. Survivors include three daughters, Kathy (Warren) Emery of Middleton, WI, Karin Perry (Karen Partlow) of Albuquerque, NM, and Kristin Perry of Greenwood, Maine. Three grandchildren, David Emery of Minneapolis, MN, Katherine Emery of Redding, CA, and Peter Emery of Middleton, WI and a sister, Dr. Lucile Barnett of Louisville, KY also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Fred Fechter, and a sister, JoAnn Sanders.

Marge was an elementary school teacher in Champaign, IL until her retirement, with most of her service at Kenwood Elementary School. She was a Master Gardener in Champaign, an active member of the Natural Area Studies group, a devoted morning YMCA swimmer, and a beloved member of the McKinley Presbyterian community of faith. She regularly practiced Tai Chi and exercised at the Mettler Center, and was an avid reader and supporter of the Champaign Public Library.
