Obituary

Margaret "Maggie" Shannon White, 56, of Urbana, passed away at 11:15pm Saturday (May 7th) surrounded by family and friends.

She was born on October 29th, 1959 in Urbana, to Dr. Donald Taylor Shannon and Katharine Case Shannon of Urbana. She was a graduate of Urbana High School in 1977 and attended Parkland College where she received her associate's degree in Accounting.

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lee Case Shannon and sister Anne Katharine "Katie" Shannon-Penny.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Gregory "Wildman" White, her son Max Shannon (Ashley) White, her daughter McKenzie Jean White all of Urbana, and her sister Laurie Shannon (Scott) Battles of St. Louis, MO. She also leaves behind her beloved pets, O, Tigger, and Willow.

While growing up in Urbana, Maggie was a standout swimmer. She worked at Planned Parenthood for 28 years before moving over to Frances Nelson Health Center (Promise Healthcare).

Anyone who knew Maggie knew that she was "One of a kind." She loved many things like reading, NASCAR, and worrying (mostly about her children). However, the one thing she loved the most was her family. She will be greatly missed, and the world isn't quite the same without her in it.

In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in the name of Margaret White at Busey Bank.

A celebration of life will be held at the garden pavilion in Meadow Brooke Park, in Urbana (off Race St.) on Friday, May 13th, 2016 from 5-8pm.
