Margaret Welch, 60, of Urbana, died at 3:45 p.m., November 3, 2009 at Helia Healthcare of Champaign.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory 1900 S. Philo Rd. Urbana. Rev. Holmes will officiate. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 12:00 noon on Saturday at the funeral home.

Margaret Welch was born December 7, 1948 in Sturgis, KY a daughter of Lum and Anna Tapp Rose Sr. She married Fred Welch at the Courthouse in Urbana. He preceded her in death. She moved to Chicago at age seventeen where she met her long time friend Fred Fortson.

She is survived by her father; a son, Alonzo (Nina) Rose; four sisters, Sandra Jackson, Rita (Don) Estes, Mary Rose, and Huberta Rose; two brothers, Jesse (Yvette) Rose, and William "Tony" (Tonia) Rose; three grandchildren, Curtis Rose, Alonzo Rose II, and Domonique Rose; one great grandson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Her mother, and two brothers, Robert Rose, and Lum Rose Jr preceded her in death.

Mrs. Welch worked in the kitchen at Bromley Hall and at Costa Notre Dame, a halfway house for women in Chicago. She loved to make people laugh, she loved her family, she enjoyed life to the fullest, and will be dearly missed.
