Margaret C. Oakes, 88, of Urbana died at her home at 1:36 a.m. Wednesday, September 11th.

She is predeceased by her loving husband Wayne whom she married September 24, 1949. She is survived by her loving and grateful children Thomas Oakes (Karen), David Oakes (Mary) and Jana Doig (David), three grandchildren, Sean, Diana and Danielle and sister Rose Camardo.

As a young woman, she attended the Art Institute of Chicago and Northwestern University. Later, she volunteered for many organizations including the American Red Cross and a variety of nursing homes. She is a retired employee of the University of Illinois, C-U. A memorial mass will be held at 5:30 P.M. Friday, September 27 at St. Patrick's Church, 708 W. Main St., Urbana. Visitation will begin at 4:30 p.m. A reception will be held immediately after mass.
