Margaret Ethelyn Pennell Barker, 92, died at 10:05 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013. Formerly of the Barkers' family farm near Bondville and then Newbury Road in Champaign, Mrs. Barker was living at Meadowbrook Care Center in Urbana at the time of her death. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday September 9 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 South Philo Road, Urbana. Burial will take place at East Lawn Cemetery on North Cunningham Avenue, also Urbana. Mrs. Barker's nephew, the Reverend George M. Pennell will officiate. Pre-funeral visitation will be at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Mrs. Barker was born September 23, 1920, on a farm near Arcola, Illinois. She was the daughter of James Curtis and Nelle Margaret Fleming Pennell. She married Thomas Henry Barker, Jr., in Attica, Indiana, July 26, 1939, and after 60 years of marriage, he preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers. She is survived by 2 daughters, Joan B. Basile (Anthony P.) and Janet B. Alleman (James M.); 5 grandchildrena
