Mabel Selby Hill Valentine 87 of Champaign died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.

Private graveside services will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign, Rev. Eunjoo Lee will officiate. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Valentine was born on October 25, 1924 in Washington, North Carolina, the daughter of William Otis and Maybelle Hill Selby. She married Robert Valentine Sr. on August 30, 1943 in South Carolina, he survives.

Also surviving are one son; Dr. Robert I. (Sally) Valentine Jr. of Huntington Beach, California, three grandchildren; Robert A. Valentine of Phoenix, Arizona, Dr. Amy Valentine Alaluf of New Port Beach, California and Tim Valentine of Champaign, and three great granddaughters; Maddy, Sadie and Josie Alaluf of Newport Beach, California.

She was preceded in death by one son; George H. Valentine, one brother; Herman Selby Jr. and two sisters; Hazel Watkins and Margaret Pritchard.

Mrs. Valentine's mother passed away shortly after her birth and she was raised by Herman and Rosalle Selby and was the granddaughter of George and Margaret Bright Hill.

She was a bridal consultant for many years and Twin City Bridal Shop for ten years.

Mrs. Valentine was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Urbana and the Women's Society of the church, she was a former member of the First United Methodist Church, Champaign.
