M. Alberta Slightom 80 of Gifford formerly of Thomasboro died at 5:20 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 at the Country Health Nursing Home, Gifford.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Champaign, and Rev. Fr. Michael Menner will officiate. There will be no public visitation. Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory Champaign is in charge of arrangements.

Alberta was born on January 4, 1935 in Hannibal, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond M. and Marjorie Pile Hascall. She married David H. Voss on February 14, 1953 in Champaign; he died on July 16, 1980. She then married Allan Slightom on January 6, 1990 in Urbana; he died July 28, 2011.

Survivors include one daughter; Cindy (Rick) Cribbett of Urbana, one son; Dave (Donalda) Voss of Bloomington, one brother; Raymond W. Hascall of Savoy, one sister; Marion L. Shipley of Phoenix, Arizona, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She worked for the weather department at Chanute Air Force Base and then the Army Corp of Engineers.

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Thomasboro and St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Urbana. She helped her husband in the Shrine. She enjoyed gardening and her grandchildren.
