CHAMPAIGN, IL- Lucy Jane Perrone, 92, of Champaign, IL, formerly of Centralia, IL, passed away at 8:40 A.M., Friday, May 3, 2013 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, May 19, 2013 at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Perrone was born January 31, 1921, a daughter of George W. and Jennie Mae (Cecil) Cox. She married Jack Walter Perrone on August 4, 1972 in Champaign, IL. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2007. Survivors include a son, Terry(Sharon) Craddock of Mahomet, IL; two granddaughters, Angela Jane Floessel of Zurich, Switzerland and Christina Marie Scalco of New Orleans, LA; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Ada Frances (Frannie) Bennett of Centralia, IL, also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 8 siblings, George W. Cox, William G. Cox, Eva Berniece Hoeinghaus, Arnold Cox, Philbert (PJ) Cox, Gerald Cox, Cecil Cox, Jesse(Spike) Cox.
Mrs. Perrone attended school in Centralia, IL, and was a businesswoman her entire life. She was a beauty shop owner, a union organizer, and she helped start and run various other businesses. She was a member of the Methodist church, where she was active in the choir and was on the funeral dinner committee She loved music and played the piano and organ, enjoyed arts and crafts, cooking and she was an avid bingo player.
