Lowell Dean "Garnie" Garner, 85, of Champaign passed away at 11:33 a.m. on Monday, May 29, 2017 at his residence.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Renner-Wikoff Chapel & Crematory is handling arrangements. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign.
Lowell was born on May 13, 1932 in Poyen, Arkansas to parents John Riley and Parilee (Wilson) Garner. They preceded him in death. On July 11, 1954 he married Janet C. Hacker in Urbana; she passed away on September 11, 2003.
He is survived by three children; Michael (Sherry) Garner of Grayling MI, Gwen (Bob) Wilson of Danville, IL and Larry (Sue) Garner of Grand Forks, ND, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. His brother Gene Garner of Augusta, GA and three sisters, Eunice Smither of Milton Freewater, OR, Fay Wicoff of Pasco, WA and Jeanette Strech of Riverside, CA also survive him.
Lowell worked for the United States military for twenty years, his last position being a Logistics Maintenance Specialist with the U.S Air Force. After retiring from the military Lowell worked for A-1 Alarm Company, retiring after twenty-four years.
He was a member of the American Legion and the NRA.
