Obituary

Lois Mae Winings, 98, passed away at 9:25 a.m., Friday, June 17, 2011 at her home in Philo. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Countryside United Methodist Church, 990 County Road 1800 E, Urbana, Illinois which is located on the Sidney road two miles east of route 130. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Bill Lakota Eastin will officiate. Burial will be held at Locust Grove Cemetery, Philo.

Mrs. Winings was born May 1, 1913 in Philo, Illinois to parents Frank and Edith (Brelsford) Ordel. She married Robert Winings on July 24th, 1937 in Covington, Indiana; he preceded her in death on December 1, 1999. She was also preceded in death by one daughter; Lila Winings, and siblings; Mary Redenbaugh, Helen Sappenfield, Benjamin Ordel, Fred Ordel, Harold Ordel, and Edith Baranski.

Survivors include daughters; Darlene Wood, of Philo, Karen Sue Page, of New Mexico, son; John Winings (Brenda), of Carterville, grandchildren; Kirk Wood, Julie Roseberry, Brad Woodcock, Deanna Williams, Mark Winings, Jeremy Winings, Cara Bryan, and twelve great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Winings was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and mainstay of the family. She loved family events and holidays where she could be with her loved ones. She was a lifelong member of Countryside United Methodist church and the ladies group "Rebecca Circle."

Lois was active in helping neighbors and friends with projects such as canning, wall papering, moving, and cleaning. She could always be counted on for providing food for people in need and for social events. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.

Lois played in the first basketball team at the newly built Philo high school gymnasium and was an avid Illini basketball fan.
