Linda Sue Chaney, 83 of Decatur, IL passed away at 12:30 a.m. on October 15, 2026, at her home, The Carriages of Decatur.

She was born in Urbana, IL on January 1, 1943, the daughter of John & Ruth (McDannell) Dawkins. She married John Chaney on October 7, 1981, in Elizabeth City, NC.

Linda is survived by daughter- Angela Force (Warren Hartman) of Mt. Zion, IL;11 Grandchildren- John Trenton, Michael Bybee (Jenny), Kyle Bybee, Kirsten King (Andrew), Shawna Gernentz (Casey), Caitlyn Bybee (CJ Mucke), Connor Bybee (Katie), Hope Carlson (Doug), Nikki Swigert, (Trent) Brock Force (Jaylen Boswell), Travis McDade ; 22 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Grandchild; siblings- Joseph Dawkins, Hank Dawkins, Karen Dawkins Smiley and Jeffrey Dawkins.

She is preceded in death by parents, her husband William McDade Jr. and her second husband John Chaney; Children- Cheryl Bybee, William” Billy” McDade III, Brian McDade; Granddaughter- Jessica McDade and great granddaughter Natalie Swigert; brothers- John Dawkins, William Dawkins, Richard Dawkin ;sister- Martha Grice.

Linda worked for over 25 years in food service for the Urbana Unit 116 and several years at the Mt. Zion school district. She enjoyed baking and had a home business decorating cakes. She loved her family dearly and was one of the sweetest people to everyone she met.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 Philo Road, Urbana, IL 61802. Chaplain Daniel Fultz will be officiating. Visitation will be from 11-12:00 at the funeral home. Burial at Grandview Cemetery, Champaign, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association.
