Linda J. Ashby, 82, of Urbana passed at 3:39 p.m. on July 25, 2026, at her home surrounded by family.

She was born in Champaign, Illinois on October 6, 1943, the daughter of Harold & Betty (Taylor) Wascher. She married Gary Ashby on November 11, 1967.

Linda is survived by her children; Kelly Jo (Sweet Hall) Ashby of Urbana, Toby (Freda)Dalton of Roberts, Delinda Dalton- Coy of Paris, Tony Ashby of Mahomet; grandsons-Andrew (Ernyse)Ashby, Dustin Coy and Eric Coy; great grandchildren-Aziyah Ashby, Andrew”A.J.” Ashby Jr and Rory Coy ;step greatgrandchild- Sergio “Peanut” Baitley

She is preceded by her parents, husband- Gary, sons- Guy Ray Dalton, Harold Dalton, Sonny Dalton, and Barry Dalton.

Linda worked for University of Illinois as an administrative assistant for 13 years.

A reception will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, from 2-4:00 p.m. at Renner- Wikoff Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to The Linda Ashby Family.
