Linda Arends, 59, of Urbana died 9:54 p.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. A Reception will be held 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 22, 2010 at Renner- Wikoff Chapel & Crematory 1900 S. Philo Rd. Urbana.

A memorial Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 23, 2010 at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Urbana. Fr. Joseph Hogan will officiate.

A memorial Mass will be held 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010 at St Mary's Catholic Church, Sycamore, IL. Fr. Timar will officiate. Linda Arends was born July 9, 1950 in Sycamore, IL the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Rich Sauber. She married Mark Arends October 5, 1974 in De Kalb, IL. He survives. Also surviving are two children, daughter Elizabeth (Craig) Davis of Peoria, IL and Christopher Arends of Urbana, IL; her mother, Elizabeth Sauber of Sycamore, IL; a brother, Jay (Toni) Sauber and a niece, Millie of Rochester, MN. Her father, Edward Sauber, preceded her in death. In 1973 Linda received a BA in Education from NIU. She worked at Parkland College as a teacher for over fifteen years. Mrs. Arends enjoyed the outdoors, reading, travel, helping others, and tutoring. She was a member of the literacy groups for Illinois, and voted twice Volunteer of the Year for the Urbana Parks.
