Leslie Earl "Les" Corry, 82, of Urbana, formerly of Tolono, passed away at 11:52 p.m. Sunday (August 9, 2015) at his residence Amber Glen Alzheimer Special Care Facility, Urbana, IL.

Leslie was born February 20, 1933, in Xenia, IL the son of Fred and Alice W. Bryant Corry. He was married to Juanita Buss of LeRoy, IL from 1952 - 1971. On Sept. 2, 1972, he married Carol Weller in Champaign; she survives.

Leslie is also survived by his daughters, Susan Welch (Urbana), Marcia Swope (Mahomet), and Debra Hoeft (Urbana); sons, Randal (Kathy) Corry (London, KY), Timothy (Julie) Corry (Eureka), and Andrew (Joanne) Weller (Philo); 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ellen (Carl) Capuano (Hazelwood, MO), Lola Brittin (LeRoy), Juanita (KeyChun) Song (Champaign); brother, Lloyd (Ann) Corry (Arrowsmith); and sisters-in-law Frances Corry (Bloomington) and Peggy Heiser (Washington, IL).

Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alice W. Corry; sons, Terry Corry and Terry Hoeft; brothers, Arthur Corry and Vernon Corry; sisters, Esther Henson, Nina Moss, Alice Chafin; and granddaughter, Amanda Swope Schildt.

Leslie graduated from LeRoy High School, LeRoy, IL where he excelled at football. He also attended the University of Illinois Urbana/Champaign for one year.

Leslie was manager of Pesotum Mutual Insurance Co. (office first in Sadorus and then Villa Grove, IL) from 1970 until his retirement in January 1995. During his retirement Leslie served as a greeter at Carle Hospital. While he served as Secretary for Pesotum Mutual he also operated his own insurance agency, Corry Insurance out of the Sadorus office. Prior to that Leslie was a farmer near LeRoy, Ellsworth, and Arrowsmith, IL; a Watkins salesman and a State Farm Mutual Insurance agent in Virginia, IL; and an adjuster/field person for Pana-Hillsboro Mutual Insurance Co., Hillsboro, IL. Leslie was Mayor of Donnellson, IL in the late 1960's. He served on the Hillsboro School Board of Education, on the Tolono Library Board, and as a scout master in Tolono. Leslie served as deacon and Sunday School superintendent of Hillsboro Christian Church and most recently was a member of Windsor Road Christian Church in Champaign. Leslie enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, singing specials at church, celebrating holidays with his family (hosting Easter egg hunts, grilling out, making homemade ice cream, cooking pancakes), and watching his children and grandchildren play sports.

A celebration of life service for Leslie will be held at 1p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory,1900 Philo Road, Urbana. Pastor Randall Boltinghouse of Windsor Road Christian Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Bailey Cemetery, Tolono. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
