Leon Robert Barger 77 of Urbana died at 4:35 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana, Rev. Fr. Joseph Hogan will officiate. Entombment will be in Mt. Hope Mausoleum, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 71 of Urbana.

Mr. Barger was born on September 9, 1935 in Jefferson City, Missouri the son of Edgar Gilbert and Hattie Bosch Barger. He married Patsy Lou Lane on January 31, 1959 in Champaign; she died on January 6, 1979.

Survivors include one son; David W. (Johnna) Barger of Champaign, one daughter; Christi S. (Don) Barger-Mayer of Clifton, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and six step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, one brother and one sister.

Mr. Barger was a pipe fitter at the University of Illinois.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, where he served as a sheet metal worker.

Mr. Barger attended St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Urbana, lifetime member VFW Post 630, Urbana, lifetime member of American Legion Post 71, Urbana, Past President of the Lions Club, 50 plus year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 149, Champaign.
