Obituary

Lee Shores, 65, of Savoy, passed away peacefully in the company of his family Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 8:57 a.m. A memorial reception will be held Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 1719 Prospect Ave., Champaign. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 29, 2014 at the church. Pastor Bradley D. Shumaker will officiate.

Mr. Shores was born February 5, 1949 in Champaign, Illinois to parents J. Harlan and Betty (Fauchald) Shores. They preceded him in death. Lee married Sally Good June12, 1971. She survives.

Also surviving are children, Roys Laux (Joe), of Indianapolis, Indiana, Kress Good (Nathan), of Western Springs, Illinois, Kindal Shores (Hans Vogelsong), of Winterville, North Carolina, brother, Jay Shores, of Rochester, Minnesota, and grandchildren, Addison and Avery Laux, Harper and Henry Good, and Levi Vogelsong.

After graduating from Champaign High School in 1967, Lee attended Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. He received his degree in Business in 1971. He then attended the University of Illinois, where he earned his Masters of Education and Education Administration Certificate.

He began his extensive career in education teaching at Danville High School and Champaign Unit #4 Schools. He later worked as the Principal of Prairieview School District #192 in Flatville for several years, and also as principal at Fisher Elementary School.

After retiring from education, Lee worked in the construction industry. He was an estimator for Carter Construction Company and also worked as an independent contractor for home repair and home improvements.

Lee treasured his time with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed antiques, reading, and home improvement projects.

Mr. Shores was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Champaign.
