Lee O. Galbraith 83 of Urbana, IL died at 7:12 p.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2011 at the Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, Urbana, IL; Rev. Rich Gregory will officiate. Entombment will be in the Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, Danville, IL. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana and also from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Friday at the church.

Mr. Galbraith was born on September 9, 1927 in Akin, IL, the son of Otis B. and Lela Knight Galbraith. He married Anna Lee Foster on July 18, 1948 in Frankfort, IL; she died November 21, 1995. He then married Evelyn B. Smith on August 2, 1997 in Urbana, IL, She survives.

Also surviving are one son; David L. Galbraith of San Antonio, TX, one daughter; Nancy J. Galbraith of Indianapolis, IN, two step children; George Smith of Granite City, IL and Sandi Simmons of Atlanta, GA and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six sisters and a step daughter; Joni Walters of Granite City, IL.

Mr. Galbraith was a recreational therapist at the Illiana (VA) Medical Center, Danville, IL retiring in 1982. He was the Senior Adult Minister at Pennsylvania Avenue Baptist Church, Urbana, IL.

He was a member of the Illinois Baptist State Association working with the Senior Adult Conferences and retreats. He had a Christian radio ministry in Danville, IL.

He was a fast pitch softball pitcher playing until age 55. He enjoyed gardening, flowers, walking 3 miles a day; he enjoyed golfing, preaching, teaching and doing services at the nursing home and retirement centers.
