Lawrence Wesley Hirschler, 89, of Champaign passed away at 8:30 a.m., Friday, October 12, 2012 at his home. A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana. Rev. J. Michael Smith will officiate. A funeral service at the funeral home will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign.

Mr. Hirschler was born April 15, 1923 in Danville, Illinois to parents Zelma A Kelsey and Roy Jacob Hirschler. He married Janet Bray-Hanson September 9, 1972 in Urbana, Illinois; she survives.

Also surviving are children; Stephanie Victoria Harpst (Dan), of St. Joseph, Michael Wesley Hirschler, of Urbana, Linda Olene Fritchey, of Urbana, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Virginia Woodrum, and one daughter; Tamby B Hirschler.

Mr. Hirschler was a machinist at the University of Illinois for more than 35 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Bird Bay Golf Club, in Venice Florida.
