Ladislav Zgusta 83, of Urbana died at 10:45 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2007 at Manor Care Health Center, Champaign.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana.

Mr. Zgusta was born on March 20, 1924 in Czechoslovakia, the son of Ladislav and Sofia Bernasova Zgusta. He married Olga Janouskova on April 10, 1948 in Prague, she survives.

Also surviving are one son; Richard Zgusta of Japan and a daughter; Monica Zgusta of Spain, two sisters; Vera and Jarmila.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

Mr. Zgusta was a Professor of Linguistics at the U of I. He was a member of the American Academy of arts and Sciences, Die Oesterreichische Academie Der Wissenschaften, Director of The Center of Advanced Studies and Others. He was the author of many books.
