Obituary

Kyoung Park-Gee, 66, of Urbana, passed away at 5:49 p.m., Friday, April 25, 2014 at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, surrounded by her children and husband. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Urbana, Illinois. Rev. Jung Kil Lee of Won Buddhism of Chicago will officiate.

Mrs. Park-Gee was born April 18, 1948 in Jeonju, Korea. She was the eldest child to parents Noh Sun Park and Sung Soon Hong.

She attended Ewha Women's University in Seoul, Korea and then earned her Ed.D. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Cincinnati. She was committed to the education and improvement of everyone around her and worked for many years at Edison Middle School as a Special Education teacher until her retirement in 2006. She was also involved in improving the education of children with special needs abroad and frequently gave lectures on autism awareness throughout Korea.

She married Chai Gee of Seoul, Korea in New York in 1977; he survives. Also surviving are children, Albert Gee MD (Jennifer Gardner MD), of Seattle, Washington, Hannah Yasunaga, DDS (Thadeus), of Urbana, Illinois, two brothers and three sisters, living in Korea, and grandchildren, Benjamin Gee and Bridget Yasunaga.
