Kurt Walter Henigman, 67, of Champaign passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Twin Lakes Rehab & Healthcare Center in Paris.

A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Renner-Wikoff Chapel in Urbana. A funeral procession will leave from Renner-Wikoff Chapel at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9th for a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana. Father Fredi Gomez-Torres will officiate.

Kurt was born on December 21, 1949 in Paris, IL to parents Walter W. and Dorothy A. (Burgess) Henigman. They preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death was his brother Mark Henigman.

He is survived by his siblings; Gregg Henigman of Urbana, Gary Henigman (Ashley) of Charleston, Alan Henigman (Juliet) of Savoy, Carl Henigman of Champaign and Louise Windsor (Brad) of Millersville, MD. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Kurt earned his Associates degree from Lakeland College and his Bachelor's degree from University of Tennessee. He was a teacher at La Follette Middle School in La Follette, Tennessee for five years. After moving back to Illinois, Kurt continued his teaching career as a substitute teacher in the Champaign-Urbana school system. Kurt also loved woodworking and crafting handmade furnishings as a hobby.
