Kenneth J. Frantz 77 of St. Joseph died at 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Champaign County Nursing Home, Urbana.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Saturday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana.

Mr. Frantz was born on November 4, 1938 in Danville, the son of James and Helen Wright Frantz. He married Barbara Nafziger on January 29, 1979 in Bloomington, she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter; Cheryl (Greg) Sizer of Mahomet, two sons; Karl (Alison) Frantz of Broomfield, Colorado, Kurt (Maggie) Frantz of Allen, Texas, one brother; Steve (Sandy) Frantz of Decatur and six grandchildren; Ashlie Sizer, Tyler Frantz, Connor Frantz, Ellen Frantz, Matthew Frantz and Jack Frantz.

Mr. Frantz was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He retired from the Urbana Fire Department, Champaign County Sheriff's Department and as a library security guard for the U of I.

Mr. Frantz was a member of the VFW post 630, Urbana, American Legion Post 71 of Urbana, Champaign Elks Club and the Tawoskote Long Rifles.

He was a coin collector and loved camping.
