URBANA, IL- Kelvin E. "K.E." Wilkinson, 97, of Urbana, went home to be with the Lord Friday, September 17, 2010, at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at the Renner-Wikoff Chapel, 1900 S. Philo Rd., Urbana, IL. Rev. Gary Gritton will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5-7 P.M., Monday evening at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, at the Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin, IL.
Mr. Wilkinson was born August 18, 1913, in Chicago, IL, a son of Charles Franklin and Elsie Millie Shook Wilkinson. He married Beatrice R. Hadlock on June 30, 1939, in Chicago, IL. She preceded him in death on July 10, 1982. He was also preceded in death by a sister, three brothers and a grandchild. Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Wolgemuth of Urbana, and a son, Dr. Timothy Wilkinson and wife, Barbara of Wheaton, IL, three grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Wilkinson worked for Carrier Air Conditioning in Chicago for 23 years. He later moved to Urbana, where he and his wife owned and operated a room and boarding house for students. Before retirement, he worked as kitchen manager for Cunningham Children's Home. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Urbana for many years. He was a member of the Danville Organaires, the Urbana Senior Citizens Club, and became Master Gardener. His interests included music, gardening, making chocolate candy, magic, and collecting steam locomotive memorabilia. K.E. was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. His focus in life was his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
