Obituary

Keith L Peterson, 77, of Urbana died at 1:15 p.m. Monday, October 8, 2007 at home following a short-lived battle with ALS.

Keith was born on January 4, 1930 in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Philip and Albertina Carlson Peterson. He married Joan M. Hanson on June 27, 1953 in Wahoo, Nebraska and celebrated 54 years of marriage.

He is survived by: Joan his wife, two sons; Kurt T. (Kathy) Peterson of Mt. Prospect, Illinois and Eric M. (Carol Ray) Peterson of Seattle, Washington, daughter Lori D. (David Morrison) Peterson of Seattle Washington, brother Kenneth Peterson, sister Joyce Anderson both of Rock Island, Illinois, four grand children, Emily and Kyle Peterson of Mt. Prospect, Illinois and Claudia and Guthrie Morrison of Seattle, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Donald and sister Dorothy.

Keith attended Luther Jr. College and Augustana College before graduating from the University of Illinois with a degree in Architecture. He has been a practicing architect in Urbana and surrounding areas for 43 years. Keith served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the local Kiwanis Club.

Keith was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed visiting family and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Of all his hobbies, Keith particularly enjoyed creating his art which over the last 10 years became a great passion. Other interests include attending Illini sporting events, watching the Chicago Cubs, golf, fishing and playing bridge with his dear friends.

Keith will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday, October 12, 2007 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church - Urbana. Pastor Robert Rasmus will officiate. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Champaign. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Thursday at Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory, Urbana.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church or the Carl Hospice Memorial Fund.
