Obituary

Kazuko Shimooka, 100, of Urbana, passed away at 4:05 A.M. on Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Meadowbrook Healthcare Center in Urbana.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Mausoleum, Champaign.

Kazuko was born on January 11, 1915 in Japan to parents Kichisue and Matsue Suzuki. They preceded her in death. In 1946 she married Kasumi Shimooka in Arizona. He passed away in January 2010.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews; Thomas J. Suzuki, David G. Suzuki (Amy), Phillip C. Suzuki (Jane), Margaret Lynne Inman (John), Cynthia Elaine Brunk (Dr. Glen Brunk), Colette Jean Gaylor (Hal), Richard Alan Suzuki and Paul Suzuki. She also has many surviving great nieces and nephews.

Kazuko graduated from the University of California in 1940. She was a manager of the Advanced Degrees Department at the University of Illinois until she retired and a member of the Evangelical Reformed Church.
